About

About Hartley Trades

Hartley Trades has been trading options since 2021, specializing in delta-neutral, theta-focused strategies designed for range-bound markets. When markets begin to trend, the approach can shift toward trades with a directional bias to better reflect changing conditions. The strategy trades Russell 2000 Index (RUT) options, primarily using defined-risk double diagonals, diagonals, and calendar spreads with staggered expirations. These structures seek to benefit from time decay while retaining flexibility when the market moves or volatility changes. Positions are typically held for fewer than 14 days, with approximately four to six trades open at a time. Maximum risk is defined at entry, with a profit target of roughly 10% or more of the capital at risk per trade, not a guaranteed return. Hedges may be added when positions are challenged. RUT options are cash-settled, avoiding share-assignment risk, and trades are generally closed before expiration. Each strategy unit requires approximately $20,000 in buying power.
